Sister Day
Spring Cleaning
This morning I decided it was about time to go through the girls toys and give away the broken, lost, or outdated stuff. In the past, I've done it when the girls are asleep and they were pretty sad about it. So today, I let them choose what was going and what was staying. I think it is easier to do it alone. Allie cried and cried. "But mom, I got this for my birthday or at this person's birthday party or Grandma gave it to me." I thought I was sentimental but I've raised someone worse then me. We finally had to barter, I'll give you three necklaces for this necklace. By the end the girl's dress up stuff had been cleaned out and a box for DI and a bag for the garbage. Although, they wanted to give their little stuff to Sophie. Don't worry Tiff, I'll take the box when they aren't looking to DI. It's too bad that Allie had to go to school, I was hoping to get the whole room cleaned. I should make Allie help her Dad Spring Clean, she would make a good bargainer. She would have no hope with me, I would tell her that most of my stuff was given to me and she would tell me to keep it.
Valentine's Weekend
It felt like we celebrated Valentine's the whole weekend. Friday night we drove up to Salt Lake. Karalee and Brett watched the girls so Justin and I could go on a date. We went to Famous Dave's for dinner and then went to a movie. We saw New in Town. I liked it and Justin laughed a lot but when we walked out he said wow there was a lot of swearing. I felt kind of bad that I hadn't noticed but I can tune out a lot, I think that happens when you become a mom. I was also really mad because I had drank so much at dinner that I had to get up in the middle of it and go to the bathroom. What's up with that? I feel like I've become a kid again. The girls had a lot of fun with Aunt Karalee and Uncle Brett and didn't want to come home. Thank you Karalee and Brett!!!!
On Saturday, Allie had a birthday party so Aubrie and I went to the store and then delivered our Valentine's. We picked up Allie and finished delivering Valentine's. When we got home Daddy decided to take us to dinner at IHOP's. We came home and the girls were so excited because I had told them about a surprise I had for them. I had such better intentions with a heart trail leading to their surprise but it just didn't happen. They were still pretty excited about the surprise. We bought them suitcases and backpacks for our Disneyland trip. Aubrie woke up Sunday morning and said, Mom do we get to go to Disneyland today. I can't wait til she asked me again and I can say YES!! today is the day.
Justin was very thoughtful and bought me roses, even though I already knew about it since he sent the confirmation to my hotmail account. He doesn't have one. Then he left the printed receipt in the receipt box and I did our bills a couple of weeks ago and saw it again. He also bought me some Circut stuff that I was really excited about. He even told me what a sensible shopper he was and I was very proud that he is loves to save too.
I kind of felt bad since all I bought him was a lousy CD but he said he really liked it but what else is he suppose to say especially on Valentine's Day. He loves 80's music and there was a lot of fun songs so he'll use it.
Valentine's
I had forgot what fun it was growing up when you got to exchange Valentine's with your school class. I remember making mailboxes with my mom (the law of substitution and creativity)so I could take to school. On a little side note: My mom made Valentine's so much fun. Holidays were a big deal to her. She would always ring the doorbell and then run. One year she bought us board games. We had a front door and a side door. She ran back and forth ringing the doorbells leaving a board game on the doorstep. We ran back and forth and it was so much fun. I really miss her around these times. This year Allie's class made their bags at school. It was fun to see her get excited about making her Valentine's and what she got from her classmates. She loves Fun Dips so we gave those to her class.
My Guitar Hero
Valentine Rice Crispies
My Purple Ballerina
Ellee gave Aubrie this purple tutu a couple of weeks ago. Most morning she asked if she can wear it and doesn't change until we have to take Allie to school and then as soon as we get home she asks if she can get back into it. I've got to figure out how I am going to get it off her long enough to wash it.
Superbowl
The girls playing on Superbowl Sunday at Papa and Ma'ama's. We missed you Ma'ama!
Ma'ama you would have been proud Papa did the dishes!!!!!!!!
My cute nephew Xander eating chips! He found a little stool so he could reach the chips and dip!
Aubrie made an arrow out of blocks pointing the way to the food!
When I pulled out my camera to take pictures my father-in-law asked me why is we only take out the camera when there is food around. It's kind of true! I love the line from Ever After when the sister says, "Mother, I'm only here for the food". I think that line can be used way to many time. Digga was craving Crab Legs so we each brought our own crab legs but she made baked potatoes, jell-o and a really good lettuce salad. I made for the first time 7 layer dip and Tine brought eclairs. Tine also brought a whole bunch of other appetizers but we were all full that we didn't eat any. Sorry Tine!!! I also tried Crab for the very first time and it wasn't that bad!!!
The Happiest Place on Earth
I finally convinced Justin to take us to Disneyland!!!!! He even agreed to go on his birthday. I am so excited. I think I've spend more then enough hours on line researching to find the best deals. Today I bought our airline tickets and our shuttle from the airline to the hotel. When I got done the girls and I counted how many more days til we go. We decided to make a countdown til Disneyland. We are open to any suggestions, ideas or helps that will make our trip better!!
PRINCESS PARTY
Aunt Tine and Millie called us on Saturday and invited us to to a princess party put on by the Drama club at the Spanish Fork High School. The girls had a lot of fun. They did face painting, colored a prince charming, had a fishing pond, a bean bag throw and had a princess lunch of a Hot Dog, Chips and a cookie. I only got one picture of the girls but at least I remembered my camera!!!
The letter Q
This week in school, Allie learned about the letter Q. Her teacher had brought in a quilt that she had made. Allie was so fascinated with it. She came home and asked me if I had ever made a quilt. I told her yes. I told her about her grandma making quilts and for some reason if I talk about my mom I seem to talk about her mom. Allie never knew my Grandma Hatfield but I talk about her a lot. So then she asked the worst question for me! "So mom, can you help me make a quilt". I really hate to sew. I don't know if it is because I have to unpick everything I make or if I just can't sew straight. I remembered she is 6 and it is more important for me to spend time with her then if it is straight besides no one has to see it up close in pictures. So this is what our project turned out like. I have fabric markers so I let her color the squares.
GYMNASTICS
I decided to help us through what I call the January Blues to keep us busy!! I enrolled Allie into Gymnastics on Tuesday and Allie and Aubrie into Dance on Wednesday. I didn't get a chance to take pictures at dance but I'm sure they will come. We bought Aubrie a dance outfit and for the first couple of weeks she wore it night and day. I had to bribe her just to get her out of it just so I could wash it.
Oh what do you do in the Winter Time, When all the world is White?
WII FIT
I am addicted!!!! We bought the Wii Fit for New Year's Eve. I have become addicted to playing it. As soon as I can get the girls doing something I turn on the Wii. As they eat lunch, take a bubble bath or play on the computer. It is a good thing it keeps track of how much time you spend on it or otherwise I would probably forget to take Allie to school. I'm not completely selfish the girls have had a lot of fun playing the Wii as well. Justin and I have become a little competive with it as well. It's his nature to be number one. Something in his blood! Maybe it's a first child thing. But I finally beat him on the bubble game by 8 seconds. The girls were so excited for me that they called their dad at work to tell them I beat his score. He got home spend a whole "ten minutes" winning me by 2 seconds. Of course that wasn't good enough so he played again until winning by 8 seconds. I haven't tried again and decided to give up the competition and surrender the white flag that he is the best!!! (Although, I doubt he'll beat me on the hula hoop!)
I have HIPS!!!!!
FRIDAY NIGHT FUN
Since Allie has been in kindergarten we have sharpened more pencils then we have in the past 6 years. She loves to write. She writes on every piece of paper and the reason I know it is because her name is on everyone of them. We broke our last pencil sharpner so I bought Allie her own pink battery operated sharpner. Since Dad didn't get home til 7:30 we spent the evening sharpening pencils! It's amazing how little it cost to have fun!
A Good Laugh
When Allie got home from school, Aubrie was taking a nap. Although the house needed to be cleaned Allie asked if I would play with her. I wasn't in the mood to pretend and play barbies so I said let's make something with your supplies in your craft box.(For Christmas, I made Allie and Aubrie their own craft box with a bunch of art supplies.) I decided to make a ladybug and Allie made two butterflies and a sun. I told her let's make up a story about them. I guess I was in the mood to pretend again. I actually let Allie just make up the story. Aubrie woke up and then Allie got her involved it was funny.
NEW YEARS DAY
I finally decided that it was about time I blogged again! On New Years we got to spend the day with dad which was a lot of fun. We don't get that opportunity very often. Daddy seems to keep himself busy!!! We went to Jumpin Jacks something the girls have wanted to do since their birthday. We had a coupon for a buy one get one free and it was only $12.50.
I love being a sensible shopper.
