Allie's Half Birthday
For Allie's Half Birthday, we had six balloons tied to silly straws with little pieces of paper inside them. She would pop them and they would have an activity that she would do. Here are some pictures of what we did.
The balloons
Trying to pop the balloon
Slips of paper
1st Balloon: Pick out your present at Walmart
2nd Balloon: Make your own Milkshake
3rd Balloon: Coloring Contest
Allie has learned about coloring contests at school and has asked several times if we can have a coloring contest. We let Dad be the judge when he got home from work. He said it was a three way tie.
4th Balloon: Stamping
Allie loves to stamp. It always seems like so much work so we don't do as often as she would like so we needed to do it for her half birthday.
5th Balloon: Decorate your cake.
6th Balloon: Watch High School Musical 3.
Allie has been wanting to see High School Musical 3 for a long time so we rented it to watch it.
Hope you had a great Happy Half Birthday! We love you!
Aubrie's Half Birthday
My dear friend, Jenifer York, celebrates Half Birthdays. I was reading her blog a while ago and told Justin about it. He decided to start the tradition. He bought me a drill and made me a cake for my half birthday. Today was Aubrie's Half Birthday. Since Aubrie loves Dora so much we made a Map of where we were going today. She got to choose any park to play at. She chose the "Purple Park". Each park we go to has a name. Then we went to feed the ducks. At the ducks they got a special surprise. A whole dollar. They love to pick out something at the dollar store and it happened to be so conveniently next to Roberts where I needed to go. At the Dollar Store, they bought these water soakers. They had a ball with it. I have to admit it was kind of fun. We missed our Dad since he had to work but we were glad he joined us for Cake and Ice Cream. She also decided to that she wanted Hot Dogs and Mac and Cheese for Dinner. I had to throw in the green beans. We had to go to Walmart when dad got home so we decided to let her pick out her one present. She chose sidewalk chalk. It was a great day. This is my first attempted at a video on my blog, Hope it works!
Happy Birthday Mom!
LAUNDRY
I was folding laundry in the hallway one day and Aubrie asked if she could help. I told her to go take the hangers in her bedroom. A while later she said,"Mom you've got to come and see what a good job I did." First clue that something is going to make me laugh. When I got to the bedroom I found this.
As any good mom would, I praised her for the great job she had done. She went off to play and I hung the clothes in the closet. When it was time for bed that night she saw her clothes were all gone. She was so sad. She cried and cried. What can you say?
Sissy Lou Who?
GYMNASTICS
The last of day of gymnastics, Allie learned to do a hand stand with just a little bit of help. She was so proud of herself. I feel so grateful and very blessed that they have community classes to put the girls in to teach them things that I have no idea how to do. The next month will be quiet at our house with no where to go! YEAH!!
Dance Performance
This year they asked us to only invite immediate family and grandparents because all three dance classes were meeting together. I was so sad because I really missed having our families there to support our girls. They did a great job and it was really cute to see Aubrie perform for the first time. Here are the pictures that were taken.
Dinner and Show
My Mom
Today is my mom's birthday. It is strange to think it has already been a year since she has been gone. I can remember as if it was just yesterday watching her take her last breath. But today I want to honor her.
Karen Tillie Hatfield Ostler was born March 11, 1942 in Springville Utah to Cloid and Ardith Hatfield, weighing in at 10lb.
She was her parent's pride and joy. Her older brother adored her! Her brother was offered a new horse if he would sell his little sister and he told them no way, which must have been hard for a 4 year old since he LOVED horses.

Mom’s words of wisdom written from her journal
If you’ll remember always…. There is no goal you can’t achieve. If you’ll try your very hardest and above all else believe, believe that you are the person who has something good to give. Believe that you can make this place a better place to live. If you’ll believe you’re needed and that others like you too. Then you’re sure to find there’s nothing in the world you cannot do. I realized that all I’m guaranteed in life is today. The poorest person has no less and the wealthiest has no more. Each of us has but one day. What we do with it is our own business; how we use it is up to us individually.
I love you Mom!
